There's a This American Life episode that really rang true with me, and I had been mulling it over, and listening to the archive of it, when it suddenly popped up that week on the air on repeat. It's called "In Defense of Ignorance", and the middle story details a paper two psychologists published in which they demonstrated a proven correlation between confidence and incompetence. This realization constantly ringing in my head, a palliative to surety. The Eno quote an oblique strategy that came up that seemed appropriate. Perhaps lack of confidence is an issue of scale?
