  1. I was watching Guy Ritchie's Snatch (2000) on the evening of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election. It turned out to be an appropriate match. Alan Ford's character, in particular, seemed to presage the ruthless brutality of the narcissism with which we are now facing in President Trump.

I originally saw this film in Portland, Maine, in a movie/cafe with my father in 2000. I don't remember anything about it other than it making an impression. I have since gone on to develop quite the crush on Jason Statham.

Art is quoting lines from "Cindy Tells Me" off of Eno's Here Come The Warm Jets (1974). That, too, seemed to match the feeling of Election Night.

Guy holds an original Replica stand-in for, well, anything. From the film, using a replica can be a mistake if you find out the person you're facing is playing for keeps.
